Wat Pa Lak Roi in Nonthai
Wat Pa Lak Roi in Nonthai isn't a typical tourist attraction, but it is a must-see for all those wanting to understand Buddhism and North-East Thailand's culture and history. It is a temple garden of 77.000 sqm full of sculptures depicting the Laotian invasion of 1826 resp. the Korat women's defense under Thao Suranaree. Some say, it is also about life in heaven and hell, the what-might-become-of-you in your next life according to how you lived this life: reward in heaven and punishment in hell. It might not be suitable to take kids there. Some scenes are extremely harsh and might cause bad dreams afterwards.
